Praxis 5331 Registration Fees, Rescheduling, and Refund Policy
Registering for the 5331 is straightforward, but the fees and rescheduling rules can be expensive if you miss them. Here is what to know.
Cross-checked against the current ETS Praxis 5331 Speech-Language Pathology Test at a Glance and ASHA CCC-SLP standards.
Registering for the Praxis 5331 is straightforward, but the fees and policies can catch you off guard if you have not read the ETS rules. Understanding the costs, the rescheduling window, and the refund policy upfront helps you avoid last-minute surprises and extra charges.
How to register for the Praxis 5331
You register for the Praxis 5331 through your ETS Praxis account. Create or log into your account, select the Speech-Language Pathology test (code 5331), choose a test center or at-home delivery option, and pick a date. During registration, you can also select the state licensing boards or agencies that should receive your scores.
Standard test fee
ETS charges a standard test fee for the Praxis 5331. The fee is set by ETS and may be updated from time to time. Check the official ETS Praxis fee schedule for the current amount. As of recent ETS publications, the cost for a single subject assessment is in the range of roughly $130 to $150. Verify the exact fee at the time of registration.
Additional score reports
Your registration includes sending scores to up to four recipients at no additional cost if you select them before the test. If you need additional score reports later, or if you change your recipients after the test, ETS charges a fee per recipient.
Rescheduling policy
ETS allows you to reschedule your test, but the rules are strict. You must reschedule at least three days before your appointment, not including the test day itself. Rescheduling closer to the test date may forfeit your fee or require payment of a new registration. If you miss the test without rescheduling, you generally lose the registration fee.
Refund policy
ETS does not offer full refunds for most registrations. You may receive a partial refund if you cancel by the required deadline, but the amount is usually less than the full fee. Read the ETS cancellation and refund policy before you register so you know the rules for your specific situation.
Retake fees
If you need to retake the Praxis 5331, you pay the same registration fee again. ETS also enforces a 21-day waiting period between attempts, so you cannot register for the next available date if it falls within that window. Plan your retake budget accordingly.
How to avoid extra costs
- Select all four free score recipients during registration, not after.
- Confirm your test date and location before paying; rescheduling is expensive.
- Review the ETS ID and testing policies so you are not turned away at the test center.
- Prepare thoroughly so you only pay once.
