The Wyoming SLP market
Wyoming licenses Speech-Language Pathologists through the Wyoming Department of Health's Office of Behavioral Health Licensing, in coordination with the Wyoming Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Wyoming's licensing authority issues the clinical SLP license after reviewing a CAA-accredited graduate degree, supervised clinical hours, and Praxis 5331 scores. School-based SLPs also need a credential through the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an appropriate speech-language pathology endorsement, processed separately from the health-licensing application.
Because Wyoming has only one in-state graduate program, most licensees complete their degree elsewhere and transfer credentials in; the state's application process is designed around verifying out-of-state transcripts, ASHA certification, and Praxis scores efficiently for incoming applicants.
Graduates apply for a temporary or provisional license to complete the nine-month Clinical Fellowship under a Wyoming-licensed CCC-SLP supervisor, following the standard ASHA CF structure. Given the state's small workforce, many fellows complete their CF through regional hospitals in Cheyenne and Casper or through contracted school-therapy providers serving multiple rural districts.

Wyoming SLP licenses renew on a schedule set by the state licensing authority, with continuing education hours required in coursework relevant to speech-language pathology practice. License holders should retain documentation of completed coursework in case of an audit.
