Every US state — including New Hampshire — accepts the Praxis 5331 at the ASHA-set 162 cut score for SLP licensure. There is no separate state-specific SLP Praxis exam.

The New Hampshire SLP market
New Hampshire licenses Speech-Language Pathologists through the New Hampshire Office of Professional Licensure and Certification (OPLC), Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Governing Board. The state's small population means fewer total SLP positions than neighboring Massachusetts, but competitive pay in southern New Hampshire and near the Massachusetts border reflects spillover demand from the Boston market. School-based SLPs in New Hampshire also need certification through the Department of Education.

The New Hampshire Office of Professional Licensure and Certification's Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Governing Board issues the clinical license required for hospitals, clinics, and private practice. Applicants must verify a CAA-accredited graduate degree, supervised clinical hours, and a passing Praxis 5331 score.
SLPs working in New Hampshire public schools also need certification through the New Hampshire Department of Education, which is administered separately from the OPLC clinical license. Because New Hampshire has only one in-state graduate program, many school districts recruit SLPs trained in Massachusetts, Maine, and Vermont.
New graduates apply for a temporary license to complete the nine-month Clinical Fellowship under a licensed CCC-SLP supervisor. Supervisors must hold an active New Hampshire license, and CF documentation follows the standard ASHA CF-2 format.
After completing the CF, OPLC issues a full, unrestricted license. Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon and hospital systems in Manchester and Nashua are common CF placement sites for candidates pursuing medical specialties.
Southern New Hampshire school districts near the Massachusetts border, including Nashua and Manchester, employ a significant share of the state's school-based SLPs, often competing with Massachusetts districts for candidates. Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and Elliot Health System in Manchester are major hospital-based employers.
Private pediatric practices are concentrated around Manchester, Nashua, and the Seacoast, while more rural areas in the state's North Country rely on smaller school districts and contracted services to meet SLP needs.
New Hampshire SLP licenses renew every two years through OPLC, with continuing education hours required through ASHA CEUs or board-approved coursework. OPLC has consolidated licensing for many professions under one office, which has streamlined online renewal.
School-based SLPs holding a Department of Education certificate must separately track that credential's renewal, which follows New Hampshire's educator certification cycle rather than the OPLC's two-year timeline.

The Speech-Language Pathology Praxis (5331) is the single national exam accepted by all state boards. 162 is the ASHA-set passing score and every state uses that same cut score.
Complete a Clinical Fellowship (CF)
A 36-week (9-month full-time equivalent) mentored clinical experience under a licensed CCC-SLP. Some states use their own name for it (California calls it the RPE) but the requirement is functionally equivalent.
Submit fingerprints and a background check
Standard across all state boards. Processing typically takes 2–6 weeks and must be completed before the license is issued.
Apply to the state licensing board
Send your Praxis score (ETS score report), transcripts, CF verification, and background clearance to the state board. Some states also require a jurisprudence exam on state SLP practice law.
